Barbara Brown, a ceramic artist and tutor at the Sunnyvale Creative Arts Center in Sunny California, USA, heard all about The International Potters' Path via the Ceramic Art Discussion List on the internet.
This inspired Barbara and some of the students in her pottery classes at the Sunnyvale Center to make a contribution.
The members of the group who took part also shown holding their tiles on this page, were:
Tile 802 Barbara Brown (top left) Who chose a hand symbol to remind us what the potter uses to work in clay on her tile. Barbara's tile is in Phase I of The Path.
Tile 803 Alyce Werthman (top right) Who chose to put the city symbol of Sunnyvale on her tile, which was included in Phase I of The Path
Tile 804 Joyce Wies (left) Joyce's tile was a sun symbol - just right to represent what is known as the Sunny State, as well as her home town of Sunnyvale!
Tile 805 Julie Campbell (right) Also included in Phase II, Julie chose to put the ducks on the pond at the Art Centre on her tile.
Tile 806 Etsuko Masaki (left) Chose the nandina leaf from plants beside the Art Center as they remind her of bamboo in Japan, her homeland.
807 Anne Johnson (right) Used another version of the Sunnyvale town emblem for her tile, which is included in Phase I of the Path.
808 Connie Ogata (bottom left) Chose quite a different sun symbol for her colourful tile.
809 Cynthia Krieg (bottom right) Who put the whole state of California onto her tile in the form of a map, but with the location of Sunnyvale clearly marked.
Tiles not in Phase I have been included in Phase II of The Path. The thoughtfulness and work invested by each Path Maker at the Sunnyvale Art Center, is much appreciated and a little California sunshine has been added to The Path through your efforts!
Thank you very much • Diolch yn fawr iawn!
