This intimate little centre provides an ideal venue for all sorts of activities. The Chapel of Art provides a real service to residents and visitors of all ages, but it involves a lot of work, as well as being a great financial risk for just two individuals, who have spent all their own life savings creating this wonderful cultural centre. That is why Eckhard and Janet Kaiser need a little help from The Friends.
How do The Friends help? The Friends support The CoA by simply attending many of the events held and bringing their family & friends along at every opportunity.
They help publicise the Good Work being done at The Chapel of Art. Those Friends known as 'Chapel Sitters' regularly spend a couple of hours a week helping.
With no public funding The Friends also make sure that there is some financial support. Annual subscriptions paid by The Friends go to The Chapel of Art Fund, which has been established to subsidise the present, as well as ensure a healthy future. The Friends paid for the Bosendorfer baby grand piano, which was needed for the concerts and recitals held at The CoA.
Who are The Friends? Most Friends are local people who support The Arts, but Friends live throughout the UK, as well as Germany, Switzerland & The Netherlands. See Friends Who's Who
What do they get for their money?
The Friends receive various concessions and benefits, such as:
• discounts on some course fees and concert tickets. • invitations to pre-exhibition private views. • annual day trip to an art exhibition of national importance. • various social occasions • the delightful Christmas Eve Carol Concert is held exclusively by and for The Friends. • corporate Friends receive a tailor-made package, which includes free use of The CoA for one occasion per year, free advertising and other concessions by arrangement. • A quarterly newsletter: THE CoA CHRONICLE, listing all the current and coming events plus news, views and information is mailed to every Friend. The CoA Chronicle can also be e-mailed to Friends on request. Updates and corrections are posted on this web site and archived CoA Chronicles from 2001 are accessible.
What does it cost to be a Friend? There are several categories and levels of support. It costs £10, £25 or £50 per person (or two people living at the same address as joint members) per year. A corporate package can be arranged from £100 per annum.
Chapel Wardens are volunteers who give hands-on help, such as Chapel Sitting. They need not pay an annual subscription, but receive all the benefits of the top category of membership. They are also expected to drink endless cups of tea! Regular Chapel Wardens attend a festive Sunday luncheon in December each year.
How to join the Friends of The CoA? Full details and a Membership Form will be sent by return of post. Please send s.a.e. to:
