Artist's Profile: Originally from Dolgellau, North Wales, UK, Rhian Templeman first studied art and design in Wrexham, before graduating from Manchester University in Art & Design (Ceramics).
Her work is influenced by her Celtic heritage, as well as 20th. century British studio pottery and historic Etruscan ware. Her time in Italy has also left a lasting impression and continues to inspire many of the finely thrown forms, combined with a series of colourful glazes.
Rhian Templeman works from her own studio, having reduced the amount of time she spends teaching in adult education establishments.
The stoneware vessels often have finely modelled clay elements or cane handles, which Rhian makes herself.
A contributor to The International Potters' Path, Rhian Templeman's work is often on exhibition at The Chapel of Art.
