Artist's Profile:

Janet Hamer's Bird Sculptures are popular throughout the UK and abroad. She is a member of the South Wales Potters' and works in both stoneware and porcelain.

Janet also makes her own paper-porcelain made to a recipe she has developed. The forms are first thrown, before being manipulated and further formed using various modelling techniques. Decoration is also applied in several different ways, including slips, sgrafitto and oxides.

The style of Janet Hamer's bird sculptures ranges from the natural and realistic through to extremely stylised designs. See top to bottom right.

Janet Hamer shares a studio with her husband, Frank Hamer, in rural South Wales.
