Exhibitor The Chapel of Art, Criccieth, Wales, UK
Featured artists: 1999 Animal Farm 2000 Pots Galore
Artist's Profile: Fellow of the Craft Potters Association of Britain, CPA, Frank Hamer concentrates on decorative plates with graphic images. They have integral hangers for wall display and are also used for serving food. The pieces should be read on four levels: as plates or dishes, as decorative objects, as specific imagery and as ceramic happenings.
Frank Hamer is known internationally for the ceramic best-seller: The Potter's Dictionary of Materials and Techniques, published by A & C Black, London and translated into several languages.
He shares a studio and kiln space with his wife and co-author of The Potter's Dictionary, Janet Hamer, at their home in rural South Wales.
Several of Frank Hamer's fish platters were exhibited during the millennium exhibition at The Chapel of Art, when they were very well received indeed.
