Art Classes

Work on the floor and ceiling of the CoA during January and February, means that the next series of classes will be held in the Vestry of Capel y Traeth. This provides the welcome opportunity of using oil paints with course tutor Howard Coles, who demonstrates new and fast-drying painting techniques. Use of oils is naturally not possible at The CoA, due to lack of ventilation as well as the risk of soiling. So this is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is more interested in oil painting  rather than watercolours or mixed media.

The next series of weekly sessions will be:
Painting in Oils
with Howard Coles
Wednesdays • 13.00 to 16.00
from 29th January to 5th March
Please note these are three-hour sessions starting at 1 o'clock.
Small classes ensure a high degree of personal tuition, but spaces are very limited (10 max.). All abilities are welcome.
Please book by January 5th.
Course fee: £65 (£54 Knights/Dames & Founding Fathers)

Water Colour Painting
with David Grosvenor
6 x Wednesday • 13.30 to 15.30
Dates to be arranged. David will be holding another series of weekly classes at The CoA this spring. The dates are uncertain at the time of writing, but they will start in March and end before Easter. Anyone wishing to take part should enroll in February, when they will also be informed of the dates as well as what materials to bring to the first session.
Course fee: £45 (£36 Knights/Dames & Founding Fathers)

Enforced policy
Payment of tuition fees in full will be required of participants as soon as they reserve a place and before courses start in the future. The CoA is sorry to enforce this part of the terms & conditions, but it is necessary to make sure that these classes do not become a loss-making service.

Big Draw 2002

The Chapel of Art took part in the Big Draw event again in October, 2002. Photos of the participants as well as Carole Coles who kindly acted as official witness for the Guinness Book of Records at the event, were posted on the Drawing Power web site within 24 hours.  Many took part in this record-making event across the country, but The Chapel of Art was the only venue in this area. Participants included a few Friends, Elizabeth Ross, the visiting potter from Mexico and two unsuspecting chance visitors to The CoA!
