CoArt Trip (continued)
Other places of interest within easy walking distance in The Quays area include: Designer Outlet @ The Lowry (the building under construction opposite on our last visit), Daytona Racing, Trafford Centre, Manchester Utd. FC and White City Retail Park.
This is Manchester, hardly sun city of the North and there are no covered walkways. We cannot depend on a glorious sunny day as on our previous visit, so Friends should bring mackintoshes whatever the forecast. Picnic food and drink is not allowed in any of the venues, but there are cafés and restaurants.
All three suggested venues are on or within a short five minute walk of the convenient Metrolink tram line and the nearest tram stop is named below the contact address and telephone number of each venue (above). Although a visit to all three venues is theoretically possible, it is not recommended in the six hours at our disposal.
All the venues have good disability access and anyone needing a wheelchair or other assistance should mention this when booking. To ensure maximum flexibility, everyone will be left to their own devices for the day. But to save losing anyone or departing without them, it will be absolutely imperative everyone rejoins the coach at the venue chosen when booking! This can only be either the City Gallery or the Lowry Centre, irrespective of where one started out.

Big Draw 2002 Whatever drawing skill or talent you feel you have (or not!) come along to The CoA at 12 noon on Saturday, 19th. October and contribute to The Drawing Minute in "The World's Biggest Draw" sponsored by the Campaign for Drawing. Help Britain enter the Guinness Book of Records. We will be joining over 600 venues across the Nation, so make this a date! www.drawingpower.org.uk
Art Classes As the number of subsidised art classes offered locally increases, it becomes difficult for The CoA. However, both Howard Coles and David Grosvenor, our 'in-house' tutors continue to be equally committed to teaching the necessary skills, which some institutions are loathed or unable to teach! It is therefore with some pride that The CoA enters its seventh year of providing the opportunity of learning, developing and improving drawing and painting skills with such dedicated professionals. Small class sizes (10 max.) also ensure a high degree of personal tuition and all abilities are welcome.
The next series of 6 weekly sessions will be:
Drawing
and Painting
with Howard Coles Wednesdays • 13.30 to 15.30 from 13th November to 18th December.
Priority will be given to those booking the full course and single sessions will be subject to availability. Please book by October 27th.
